Muscogee County Correctional Institution opened in 1997 and houses up to 528 medium security adult male felons. Residents are housed in two pods that contain a dozen dormitories each. Each dorm can house up to 48 inmates. Inmates can learn vocational skills in automotive repair, building maintenance, and food services. Additionally, inmates can be selected to provide a labor force to local government agencies like the road department.
Georgia Department of Corrections requires all visitors complete a visitors application and be approved before visiting. Start by doing the following:

- You must gather and submit a copy of all the documents required in the application, this includes a valid government issued photo ID.
- The application must be completed, signed and notarized.
