Description of Facility

Massachusetts Treatment Center specializes in the housing and treatment of inmates who require sex offender treatment and those who have been civilly committed by the courts and were determined to be sexually dangerous. These populations are housed separately from one another.

Massachusetts Treatment Center is a medium custody prison and is comprised of four housing units, with six man rooms, and contain convicted offenders who require sex offender treatment. Additionally, a restrictive housing unit can hold up to twelve inmates. Those who were deemed to be sexually dangerous are housed in single and double celled rooms.

Programs available to inmates at Massachusetts Treatment Center include substance abuse treatment assisted by medication, sex offender treatment, and religious services. Vocational studies include learning Microsoft Office, various building trades, horticulture, and food service training (ServSafe).

Visiting Hours & Information

In order to visit an inmate in Massachusetts you must do the following:

  • First, request the inmate add you to their prospective visitors list.
  • Next, complete a Massachusetts inmate visitors application. The application is also available in Spanish.
  • Complete and sign the form, then mail the application back to the facility your inmate is located in.
  • You will be notified of the status of your application, approved or denied.
  • Once approved you should familiarize yourself with the rules/dress code.
  • When attending a visit, you must provide a valid government issued photo identification such as a driver's license or passport.

Important things to remember when visiting an inmate at Massachusetts Treatment Center:

  • Inmates can have a maximum of two adult visitors per visit (children do not count, but must not exceed a controllable amount).
  • Visits are up to one hour in duration.
  • Visitors can arrive for processing a half hour prior to their visit time.
  • Residents can have up to three visits per week, however one of the three must occur on a weekday evening, and one must occur on the weekend.
  • Visitors are only allowed to bring a locker key with them into the visiting room.
  • All visitors and their vehicle may be searched, weapons are prohibited from being on facility grounds including in your vehicle.
  • Always lock your vehicle when attending a visiting session.
