Massachusetts Correctional Institution Framingham, or MCI Framingham, is situated in Middlesex County, Massachusetts. This facility is a mixed custody prison that mainly accommodates medium security female inmates. Additionally, it oversees a Maximum security unit for female inmates awaiting trial. It is the only facility in Massachusetts that houses females, and includes housing those awaiting sentence and trial, those sentenced to jail in five counties, and those sentenced to prison long term. The capacity of MCI Framingham is 753 inmates.
Inmates are housed in various housing units including four cottages, four housing units, a restrictive housing unit, and an Alternative Treatment Unit. General population houses inmates in eight rooms on each floor with 8 to 9 beds in each room.
At Framingham, inmates can engage in substance abuse treatments, educational programs, and mental health assessments. Vocational studies offered encompass culinary arts, cosmetology, and various construction disciplines. Other opportunities include the American Vet dog program, NEADS puppy training program, and various work opportunities.
