Lee Arrendale State Prison opened in 1951 and houses adult and juvenile females. It has a maximum capacity of 1,476. Residents are housed in multiple units. A unit is used as a transitional center for general population inmates, the supportive living unit, and residential substance abuse center. B unit houses general population inmates. C unit is the faith based character unit. D unit houses inmates in general population in single cells, and E unit houses Administrative Segregation inmates. The units are open dormitory and single to multiple occupancy cells depending on the security level of the inmate.
While incarcerated at Lee Arrendale State Prison inmates can work on a cattle farm, provide maintenance services, work in food services, in the Equine rescue Center, or for the fire department. Vocational studies include electrical, automotive pain and repair, carpentry, welding, culinary arts, a dog rescue program, and office tecnhologies.
