Harris County Correctional Institution opened in 1936 and is located in Hamilton Georgia. It is a medium security institution that houses 125 adult male offenders. Inmates are held in an open dormitory setting. If inmates become difficult to manage, or have safety and security issues, they can be moved to solitary confinement/segregation.
Inmates can earn a general education diploma while incarcerated here. Counseling for family violence, drug and alcohol abuse, and stress and anger management is available. Inmates may be selected to participate in work crews that offer supervised support services to the county roads systems, sanitation, vehicle maintenance, the department of transportation and the State Police.
