Description of Facility

Effingham County Correctional Institution is a medium security male prison that opened in 1925. The facility is comprised of four dormitories with approximately 64 residents in each and has a maximum capacity of 192. Inmates at this facility provide a labor force for the surrounding county government, providing landscaping, building maintenance, and road services. Offenders can also provide barbering, food services, laundry services, and learn auto mechanics, masonry, welding, small engine repair and carpentry skills.
