Charles D. Hudson Transitional Center is a minimum security prison that opened in 2003 and is a satellite facility for Rutledge State Prison. It is responsible for preparing inmates for their upcoming reintegration with society through employment preparation and a work release program. Residents who are housed at this facility permanently (only 10 inmates), participate in work detail within the institution providing support services in groundskeeping, sanitation, maintenance and cooking.
This is the former Lagrange Transitional Center, and is named after a former Board of Corrections Chairman who was passionate about his service to the community and to rehabilitating people.
