Atlanta Transitional Center is a minimum security facility that opened in 1970. It houses up to 257 adult male inmates and prepares them for their upcoming release. Residents are housed in multiple occupancy rooms that house anywhere from 2-6 inmates. Offenders are expected to work in various roles, including providing a labor force for local state agencies performing custodial work, building maintenance, food and laundry service, and landscaping.

Georgia Department of Corrections requires all visitors complete a visitors application and be approved before visiting. Start by doing the following:
- All visitors regardless of age must fill out a visitors application.
- You must gather and submit a copy of all the documents required in the application, this includes a valid government issued photo ID.
- The application must be completed, signed and notarized.
