Arizona State Prison Complex Safford is a mixed custody facility housing inmates of multiple custody levels. Safford is comprised of several units including Globe, Fort Grant, Graham, Miles detention and Tonto. Each of these units houses various custody levels.
Programs for inmates include adult basic education, the ability to earn a GED and high school diploma. Group programming like alcoholics anonymous, narcotics anonymous, convergent case management, and parenting classes are available. Vocational training in HVAC, automotive repair, construction, and masonry are provided to give inmates a better foundation for their release.
Minimum security offenders from some units are allowed to participate in various work detail including: vehicle maintenance, building maintenance, food service, and labor crews who help with the landscaping, maintenance, and upkeep of the facility grounds. Additionally, select work crews are sent out into the surrounding communities.
