Cummins Unit in Arkansas houses several custody level inmates including minimum, medium, and maximum security levels. The facility has a capacity to hold approximately 1,876 inmates. This facility has a separate barracks for those inmates who are classified as needing mental health management. Like most institutions this facility offers educational programs for inmates to earn basic, and GED level educations.
Cummins Unit offers a variety of programs for the inmates to participate in. They can work in a garment factory, in industrial binding, and monogramming. Cummins also has a canine unit that allows the inmates to work with dogs. The agricultural vocations include a dairy creamery, feed mill, and vegetable crop farming.
