Offenders incarcerated in Arkansas Department of Corrections may receive letters up to three pages per envelope and have no limit to the number of letters they can receive. They are not limited in the number of letters they can send, but must pay for postage. All correspondence should have the inmate's full name and ADC# on it, and your return address.
Inmates are not given the original letters, they are given a scanned and printed copy. This is to help eliminate contraband entering the facility. For best results use dark blue or black ink, pencil does not copy well.
Send no more then five 4x6 photos to an inmate, if you send more then five, the entire correspondence will be rejected. Black and white copies of the photos will be made and delivered to the inmate, they do not receive the original photos.
Inmates are allowed to receive soft cover books and magazines from recognized bookstores like Barnes and Noble. Books must be new and come directly from a reputable vendor.
Friends and family can also use the inmate eMessaging service provided through Securus Technologies. This allows you to send photos and messages electronically within hours. There is a fee associated with this service.
Class I and II inmates have access to tablet messaging through Securus Technologies. This gives Class I and II custody level inmates eligibility to access a tablet that provides e-messaging, listening to music, reading e-books, and more. Tablets are leased monthly through Securus Technologies.
Arkansas participates in the inmate package program provided by Union Supply Direct which occurs twice per year and allows friends and family to purchase food/hygiene/clothing items. Talk to your inmate about it and they will keep you informed on the dates and dollar limits as this changes yearly.
