The Central Maryland Correctional Facility (CMCF), previously known as the Central Laundry Facility, was built in 1960 as part of the correctional camp system. This prison is designated as a minimum pre-release facility that houses male inmates in twelve housing units. The facility grounds feature amenities such as a basketball court, weightlifting equipment, volleyball areas, and a horseshoe pit.
The main structure, "A" building, includes four dormitories: Frederick, Carroll, and Howard dorms each accommodate 60 inmates, while the Baltimore dorm houses 65 inmates. Housing Unit "B" with 256 beds is located to the left of "A" building, consisting of two levels with four dormitories on each level. The Residential Substance Abuse Treatment (RSAT) quad trailer, situated to the left of Housing Unit "B," contains two classrooms that can be partitioned. The laundry plant is housed in a one-story building with a basement across the courtyard from the housing units.
