Baltimore City Correctional Center opened in 1984, and is situated in Baltimore, Maryland. It is a minimum security facility accommodating a maximum of 508 adult male offenders, although the average daily population is closer to 220. As inmates near release, they have the opportunity to work on road crews. The center offers a thorough pre-release program, including a 14-day assessment to address the needs of the offender in areas such as housing, employment, and assigning a social worker. Residents are housed in two main units referred to as North and South wings, each wing has two main floors Upper and Lower, each floor has two tiers. Tiers A and B are located in North wing, and tiers C and D are located in South wing.
While incarcerated at Baltimore City Correctional Center residents have the chance to earn a GED and participate in classes covering reading, writing, and math. Additionally, those preparing for release receive training in interviewing skills and resume writing to enhance their chances of securing employment.
