Ventress Correctional Facility in Alabama houses around 1200 male inmates up to a custody level of medium. Many of the inmates participate in a supervised community service within the surrounding area maintaining local, county and state agencies.
Ventress was originally established as a treatment facility to help those who suffer from drug and alcohol addiction. Today it maintains this goal as one of the primary missions of the institution. An eight week substance abuse program known as SAP and a 6 month drug treatment program are available to offenders who require them.
Inmates housed at Ventress can participate in a variety of activities and educational programs offered through a nearby college. This facility also has a vocational program where inmates can learn a useful skill such as carpentry and HVAC.
