Homestead Correctional Institution shares approximately 205 acres of land with its sister institution, Dade Correctional Institution. With a design capacity of 768 beds, Homestead CI currently has the capacity to house 668 inmates. As a Level 4 security female facility, it accommodates inmates at various custody levels, ranging from community to close, aged between 21 to 79 years, with an average stay of just over 2 years.
Comprising eight housing units, including six celled units and two open bay dormitories, Homestead CI's accommodation setup features 50 double occupancy cells in each of the six celled units, while one of the dormitories holds 82 beds and the other 67.
Homestead Correctional Institution offers a range of inmate programs, spanning substance abuse, education, vocational training, and religious services. Vocational training provided to inmates include cosmetology and an entrepreneurship program.
