Hardee Correctional Institution is a mixed custody correctional facility that houses up to 1,541 adult male inmates. The institution operates as a level six-security facility, enclosed by dual twelve-foot chain-link fences fortified with multiple layers of razor ribbon.
Situated on a sprawling 240-acre plot, with an additional 6-acre site dedicated to the Work Camp, Hardee Correctional Institution's main compound is divided into Main North and Main South sections, separated by electronically controlled twelve-foot high cross fences.
Within the compound, there are nine housing units, including seven butterfly-style units with double occupancy cells, two open bay dormitories, and a Medical Unit equipped with self-harm observation/isolation cells and an eight-bed infirmary.
Dormitories A and H, single-story structures with dormitory-style beds, house inmates of close, medium, or minimum custody levels who are engaged in facility-based employment or leave the premises only for external appointments, court appearances, or transfers.
Dormitories B, C, D, E, F, and G, on the other hand, are two-story butterfly dormitories divided into four two-story quads or wings, each accommodating double occupancy cells. Dormitories E, F, and G serve as specialized housing units for Close Management, Disciplinary Confinement, and Administrative Confinement Inmates.
